Creation of the Great Bath

The most magnificent bath located in Mohenjo-Daro, one of the most famous cities of Indus Valley Civilization was built during 2900 BCE. It is the world largest and the first water tank.

The dimension of this great bath is 39/29 feet with a depth of 8 feet and is kept in an excellent condition till date. Though it is not in use anymore, it carries high religious and social values.

The Great Bath was built in the stepwell format, where it has stairs on both the sides and water in the middle. The people mostly used the bath for the religious purpose as the water was considered to be the holy water.
